Jammu, Aug 14, 2025 : Security has been stepped up across the Jammu region ahead of Independence Day, with intensified checking, patrolling, and area domination, officials said on Thursday.
A multi-tier security grid involving the Army, BSF, and J&K Police is on high alert along the Line of Control and International Border to foil any cross-border threats. Quick Response Teams have been deployed in Jammu city, with strict checking at all entry and exit points and enhanced deployment on the Jammu–Srinagar and Jammu–Pathankot highways.
Special focus has been placed on militancy-affected districts including Rajouri, Poonch, Kishtwar, Doda, Udhampur, and Kathua. CCTV surveillance, anti-sabotage checks, and highway security have also been strengthened.
The main Independence Day event in Jammu will be held at Maulana Azad Stadium, where Deputy CM Surinder Choudhary will unfurl the Tricolour, while CM Omar Abdullah will preside over the main function in Srinagar.
Police have urged public cooperation, particularly in border districts, and appealed for immediate reporting of any suspicious activity or objects.
