Jammu, Aug 14, 2025 : Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Thursday briefed Union Home Minister Amit Shah on the aftermath of the massive cloudburst in Kishtwar’s remote Chasoti village, which has claimed at least 12 lives and caused extensive damage.
“The news is grim and accurate. Verified information from the area is slow in arriving. All possible resources are being mobilised from within and outside J&K to manage rescue operations,” Abdullah said in a post on X after speaking with Shah.
The CM added that he would not be giving interviews to media outlets and that the government would share updates “as and when possible.”
The cloudburst struck between 12 noon and 1 pm at Chasoti, the last motorable point on the route to the Machail Mata shrine, where hundreds had gathered for the annual yatra before beginning the 8.5 km trek.
