Srinagar, Aug 14, 2025 : The J&K Anti-Corruption Bureau on Thursday arrested a Junior Engineer of the Rural Development Department, Shopian, for allegedly accepting a ₹20,000 bribe to clear a pending payment of ₹7.5 lakh for executed works.
Acting on a written complaint, the ACB registered FIR No. 04/2025 under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act. A trap team, accompanied by independent witnesses, caught the JE red-handed while demanding and accepting the bribe, recovering the amount from his possession on the spot.
Searches were carried out at his residences in Kachdoora, Shopian, and Kanipora, Nowgam, Srinagar. Further investigation is underway.
