Jammu, Aug 14, 2025 – While Kishtwar continues to reel from a deadly cloudburst that claimed at least 38 lives, several other districts in the Jammu region are facing severe rain-related disruptions.
In Rajouri, two children were injured when their house collapsed in Khargala village, while in Poonch’s Gali Pindi area, a residential house belonging to SPO Altaf Hussain Shah caved in, forcing five nearby families in Bandi Kama Khan to shift to safer locations. Udhampur also reported a house collapse, prompting evacuation.
In Reasi, the Himkoti track to the Mata Vaishno Devi shrine was closed for pilgrims due to heavy rainfall. Torrential rains have triggered flash floods in rivers including the Tawi, Chenab, Ujh and Suran, inundating roads and residential areas.
Authorities have issued alerts in Rajouri as the local river swelled dangerously, while in Udhampur’s Ramnagar tehsil, five villages were cut off after rains damaged the Kougha–Chigli Pingla road. Kathua’s Khokhayal village was flooded, leaving homes and shops waterlogged.
The administration has urged residents to stay away from rivers and drains. Despite the downpour, the Jammu–Srinagar National Highway remains open to traffic.
