Srinagar, Aug 15, 2025 : On the 79th Independence Day, Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha hoisted the national flag at Raj Bhavan, paying homage to freedom fighters, martyrs from the Police, Army, and CAPFs, as well as civilians who lost their lives in the recent Chashoti cloudburst in Kishtwar.
Sinha urged people to pledge that “no individual or village is left out of this historic journey of peace and progress,” and to look ahead with “pride, confidence, and hope” towards a better future for the Union Territory.
In a post on X, he reiterated his greetings to citizens and expressed pride in watching the tricolour fly high. He paid special tribute to civilian martyrs killed in the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack and lauded the bravery of the armed forces, intelligence agencies, J&K Police, and personnel involved in Operation Sindoor and Operation Mahadev.
Expressing grief over the Kishtwar tragedy, Sinha said his thoughts were with the bereaved families and that relief operations were being carried out on a war footing.
