Srinagar, July 11: The Jammu and Kashmir Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Thursday arrested a Lineman-II of the Power Development Department (PDD) for accepting a ₹5,000 bribe in Baramulla.
The accused, Manzoor Ahmad Bhat, posted as Meter Reader at Panzinara, Sub Division Pattan, allegedly demanded the bribe for processing a new electricity connection for a residential house in Panzinara, Shalteng Srinagar.
The complainant, unwilling to pay, approached the ACB, which verified the allegations and registered FIR No. 13/2025 under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 (as amended) at ACB Police Station Srinagar.
A trap was laid, and the accused was caught red-handed while demanding and accepting the bribe. The bribe money was recovered on the spot in the presence of independent witnesses.
Manzoor Ahmad Bhat, a resident of Buran Pattan, Baramulla, was taken into custody, and further investigation is underway.
