SAMBA, November 4, 2025 : The Jammu and Kashmir Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Tuesday caught a Patwari red-handed while accepting a bribe of ₹20,000 in Samba district, and later recovered over ₹35 lakh in cash from his possession and residence.
The accused, Sunil Kumar, Patwari of Halqa Dadui, was demanding ₹1 lakh from a complainant for preparing a Girdawari correction report sought by the Tehsildar Samba. After negotiation, the bribe was settled at ₹80,000, of which ₹20,000 was to be paid initially.
Unwilling to pay the bribe, the complainant approached the ACB, which verified the allegation and registered FIR No. 19/2025 under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988.
A trap team was constituted, and Sunil Kumar was arrested on the spot while receiving the bribe in the presence of independent witnesses. Subsequent searches led to the seizure of ₹35 lakh in cash from his vehicle and residence.
The accused has been taken into custody, and further investigation is underway.
