Srinagar, December 4, 2025: The Jammu and Kashmir Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has filed a detailed chargesheet against Tanveer Ahmad Dar, the then Assistant Engineer posted at the BDO Office, Suresyar Chadoora, in connection with a trap case registered last year.
An ACB official said the chargesheet has been filed before the Additional Special Anti-Corruption Judge, Srinagar, in FIR No. 25/2023 registered under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988.
Bribe Demanded for Clearing NREGA Bills
The case originated from a written complaint received on December 21, 2023, in which the complainant alleged that the accused demanded ₹2,000 as a bribe for clearing NREGA bills.
Acting promptly on the complaint, the ACB conducted a trap operation, during which the accused was caught red-handed while accepting the bribe money.
The tainted cash was immediately recovered, and chemical analysis confirmed the presence of phenolphthalein powder on the accused’s hands, strongly corroborating the allegations.
Strong Evidence & Court Proceedings
According to the ACB, the investigation produced clear, cogent, and credible evidence establishing that the accused public servant had committed the offence under the Prevention of Corruption Act.
After fulfilling all legal requirements, including the mandatory prosecution sanction from the Government, the ACB formally presented the chargesheet before the court.
The court has admitted the case for trial, and the next hearing has been scheduled for February 17, 2026.
The ACB reaffirmed its zero-tolerance policy against corruption and reiterated its commitment to ensuring transparency, accountability, and clean governance.
