JAMMU, July 18, 2025: The Jammu and Kashmir Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Friday trapped and arrested Kewal Krishan, a Junior official of the Jammu Development Authority (JDA), for demanding and accepting a bribe of ₹10,000.
According to the ACB, a complaint was received alleging that the accused had demanded ₹20,000 from a local resident in exchange for allowing continued construction of a double-storey building at Ballain Domana in Jammu. The official had agreed to accept the first installment of ₹10,000, prompting the complainant to approach the ACB instead of paying the bribe.
Acting swiftly, the Bureau conducted a discreet verification, which confirmed the allegations. Consequently, a case under FIR No. 14/2025 U/S 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 was registered at Police Station ACB Jammu, and an investigation was launched.
A trap team led by a Gazetted officer was constituted. The accused was caught red-handed while accepting the ₹10,000 bribe from the complainant, in the presence of independent witnesses. The bribe money was recovered from his possession, and the official was arrested on the spot after completing all legal formalities.
Simultaneously, a search was conducted at the accused’s residence in Flore Haramkund Gajansoo, Tehsil Marh, District Jammu, in the presence of a Magistrate and independent witnesses.
Further investigation is underway, the ACB said.
