Srinagar, March 8, 2026 : The Jammu and Kashmir Government has decided to reopen all educational institutions across the Kashmir Valley from Monday, Education Minister Sakina Itoo announced on Sunday.
The minister said the decision was taken after reviewing the prevailing ground situation across the region.
“After taking stock of the situation, we have decided to reopen schools, colleges and universities in all districts of Kashmir from Monday,” Sakina Itoo said.
Educational institutions had been closed last week as a precautionary measure following protests reported in parts of Jammu and Kashmir amid recent developments in the Middle East.
Meanwhile, schools up to Class 8 will also reopen after a winter vacation of more than two months. Academic activities for Classes 9 to 12 had already resumed on February 23 in the Kashmir division and winter zones of Jammu.
Authorities said the reopening will allow normal academic activities to resume across the Valley after the temporary closure.
