Srinagar, September 18, 2025 : Education Minister Sakina Itoo on Thursday assured that all examinations across Jammu and Kashmir will be held as per the academic calendar, despite disruptions caused by recent natural calamities.

Addressing reporters, the minister said the government is committed to ensuring academic continuity for students. “Examinations will be held on time. We understand that students have faced academic loss this year due to multiple challenges — first a war-like situation, then a heatwave, followed by floods in parts of the Union Territory. However, the department is actively working to minimize the impact,” Itoo said.

She acknowledged that several schools across both Jammu and Kashmir divisions were damaged during the floods, but emphasized that arrangements are being made to conduct exams without delay.

The minister also revealed that the department is engaging with stakeholders to gather suggestions on how best to compensate for the academic loss. “Last year, we successfully shifted the academic session from March to November-December, which was a major challenge. Now the system has been streamlined to a great extent, and we intend to maintain this consistency,” she added.

Her statement comes as a relief to thousands of students and parents, many of whom had expressed concerns about further delays in examinations due to infrastructure damages caused by the floods.
