SRINAGAR, July 31, 2025 : The annual Amarnath Yatra has crossed a significant milestone, with over 4 lakh pilgrims having visited the sacred cave shrine so far. The breakthrough came after yatris were allowed to proceed from the Baltal base camp on Thursday.
J&K Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, who also chairs the Shri Amarnath Ji Shrine Board (SASB), hailed the development as a miracle.
“Baba Amarnath makes the impossible, possible. With his blessings, the Holy Yatra crossed 4 lakh today. I bow to Lord Shiva for this miracle,” LG Sinha posted on X.
Calling the yatra “an inimitable journey into pure bliss,” Sinha said it is much more than a pilgrimage—“It is a spiritual journey that helps devotees discover themselves and fills their hearts with infinite gratitude.”
He also underlined the significance of the pilgrimage in uniting people across the nation:
“The record number of darshans and the turnout from across India and abroad reflect our unity and faith.”
Located at an altitude of 3,888 metres, the Amarnath cave shrine is famous for housing a naturally-formed ice stalagmite, believed to be a manifestation of Lord Shiva.
This year’s yatra began on July 3 and will conclude on August 9, coinciding with Shravan Purnima and Raksha Bandhan. With over 4 lakh yatris participating so far, officials and pilgrims alike see it as a “victory of faith over fear.”
