Anantnag, March 8, 2026 : Jammu and Kashmir Police launched a late-night crackdown on illegal mining in Anantnag district, seizing three JCB machines and four tractors involved in unlawful mineral extraction in the Sandren Nala area near Shivpora.

According to officials, acting on specific inputs about illegal mining activities, a police team from Police Post Janglatmandi carried out a raid in the Shivpora area. During the operation, police found that minerals were being illegally extracted during night hours using heavy machinery.

Acting swiftly, the team seized three JCB machines and four tractors on the spot that were allegedly being used for the illegal activity.

Police said that FIR No. 59/2026 has been registered under relevant sections of law and an investigation into the matter has been initiated.

Jammu and Kashmir Police in Anantnag reiterated its commitment to take strict action against illegal mining and other unlawful activities that damage the environment and public resources.
