JAMMU, July 30, 2025 : In a major success, the Indian Army foiled an infiltration attempt along the Line of Control (LoC) in the Degwar sector of Poonch, killing two suspected Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorists, officials said on Wednesday.
The operation, codenamed ‘Shivshakti’, was launched after intelligence inputs from Army units and J&K Police indicated a possible infiltration attempt. Alert troops noticed suspicious movement near the LoC fence late Tuesday night and challenged the infiltrators, leading to a fierce gunfight.
“In a swift and precise anti-infiltration operation, two terrorists were eliminated while attempting to cross over. Three weapons have been recovered,” the Army’s White Knight Corps posted on X.
Officials confirmed that both terrorists were neutralised during the overnight exchange of fire. A search operation launched at first light recovered the bodies and warlike stores. The operation is still ongoing.
The incident follows closely on the heels of a recent encounter in Srinagar where three terrorists involved in the Pahalgam attack were gunned down.
