POONCH/JAMMU, July 25, 2025 : An Indian Army soldier was martyred and two others, including a Junior Commissioned Officer (JCO), were injured in a landmine explosion during an area domination patrol along the Line of Control (LoC) in the Krishna Ghati sector of Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch district on Friday, officials said.
The incident occurred when troops of the 7 JAT Regiment were patrolling the area and inadvertently triggered a landmine. Agniveer Lalit Kumar lost his life in the blast, while the two injured personnel were evacuated to a military hospital. Their condition is reported to be stable.
In a solemn tribute, the White Knight Corps posted on X:
“GOC White Knight Corps and all ranks pay homage to Agniveer Lalit Kumar of 7 JAT Regiment, who made the supreme sacrifice during an area domination patrol in Krishna Ghati following a mine blast. We stand with the bereaved family in this hour of grief.”
The Army frequently conducts area domination patrols along the LoC to monitor and secure sensitive zones, where landmines remain a persistent hazard due to infiltration threats and past hostilities.
