Jammu, March 30, 2026 : In a significant political remark ahead of the upcoming Assembly elections, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Monday expressed his desire to see the opposition emerge victorious across five key electoral battlegrounds, while emphasizing that the ultimate decision lies with the जनता (people).
Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of an event in Jammu, Abdullah pointed to the dynamic and alliance-driven nature of Indian politics, particularly in the states heading to polls next month.

The Assembly elections are scheduled as follows:
- West Bengal – April 23 & 29
- Tamil Nadu – April 23
- Assam – April 9
