Jammu, December 5, 2025 : The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leadership has taken up the long-pending issue of encroachment on properties and temple lands belonging to displaced Kashmiri Pandits, seeking immediate intervention from district administrations across the Kashmir Valley.
Party officials said that scores of complaints have been filed by displaced Kashmiri Pandits regarding the illegal occupation of their residential properties and temple lands, but despite repeated appeals, their grievances remain unresolved.
BJP Meets Deputy Commissioners, Revenue Officers
The BJP’s Kashmir Displaced District (KDD) unit, led by its president Rajeev Pandita, held extensive meetings with Deputy Commissioners and senior revenue officers in multiple districts to press for immediate action.
Pandita met the Deputy Commissioners of Srinagar, Anantnag, and Pulwama, besides holding discussions with top revenue officials of Kupwara and Baramulla, a party spokesperson said.
“The purpose of these meetings was to highlight the serious grievances of the Kashmiri Pandit community regarding the encroachment of their properties and temple lands, and to seek effective administrative intervention,” Pandita said.
Focus on Temple Lands & Displaced Properties
Pandita said the discussions focused particularly on the illegal occupation of land and temple properties owned by displaced Kashmiri Pandits, fulfilling a commitment made to community members who had submitted formal representations to the BJP.
He termed the meetings a “significant step” toward the retrieval of illegally occupied assets and ensuring the protection of religious and personal properties of the displaced community.
Welfare & Safety of KP Employees Also Raised
Apart from property-related issues, the BJP delegation also raised concerns regarding the welfare and security of two key segments:
-
PM Package employees
-
Non-displaced Kashmiri Pandits living in the Valley
The delegation sought enhanced safety measures and administrative support for these vulnerable sections.
Continued Pressure on Administration
Pandita asserted that the Kashmir Displaced District unit will continue engaging with the administration at all levels until:
-
All encroachment issues are fully addressed
-
KP properties and temples are secured
-
Safety concerns of community members are resolved
The issue has once again brought the spotlight on the long-standing struggle of displaced Kashmiri Pandits for justice, security, and restoration of their rights.
