JAMMU, November 3, 2025 : Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Monday accused the BJP of “double standards” over dynastic politics, saying the party “has no qualms when it comes to its own families but uses the term to malign others.”
“They like dynastic rule if it’s within their party, but raise objections when it comes to families outside the BJP,” Abdullah said while campaigning for Budgam and Nagrota bypolls.
The CM’s remarks came as the BJP fielded Devyani Rana, daughter of late MLA Devender Singh Rana, from Nagrota — a move Abdullah said “exposes the party’s hypocrisy.”
Abdullah also revealed that National Conference’s legal team is studying the possibility of joining the Supreme Court proceedings on the restoration of J&K’s statehood.
“We’ll decide after weighing both advantages and disadvantages,” he said.
On the reservation issue, Abdullah said his government will align the policy with the Supreme Court’s 50% ceiling rule, while the cabinet sub-committee’s report will be sent to the Lieutenant Governor for final approval.
He also confirmed that a memorandum seeking flood relief for Jammu and Kashmir has been submitted to the Centre, noting that this year’s losses were higher in Jammu than in the Valley.
