Key Demands & Allegations
The BJP and BJYM accused the ruling Jammu and Kashmir National Conference government of:
- Creating regional imbalance by proposing an NLU in Kashmir
- Ignoring Jammu’s demand for equal educational infrastructure
Leaders clarified they are not opposed to an NLU in Kashmir, but want equal opportunities for Jammu.
“If Kashmir gets an NLU, Jammu also deserves one,” said Divyani Rana.
Call for Continued Agitation
BJP leaders warned that the protest could escalate into a larger movement if the demand is not met, citing past struggles for institutions like central universities and AIIMS in the region.
Political Significance
The protest highlights growing political friction over regional development and resource allocation, likely to remain a key issue in the ongoing Assembly session.
