JAMMU, Aug 22, 2025 : Sainik School Nagrota celebrated its 56th Raising Day with Chief Minister Omar Abdullah inaugurating the newly constructed girls’ hostel, Triveni.
The Chief Minister was received with a ceremonial Guard of Honour and paid tribute to the school’s martyrs by laying a wreath at the Shaurya Smarak. He also joined staff and cadets for a commemorative group photograph.
The event was attended by senior officers from Headquarters 16 Corps, including Lt Gen PK Mishra, AVSM, YSM, SM, GOC HQ 16 Corps, and Maj Gen Paramvir Singh Dagar, VSM, COS HQ 16 Corps, alongside officials from the State Education Department and school alumni.
The celebrations commenced with a cake-cutting ceremony, where CM Abdullah was joined by Cadet Stanzin Chosgyal (School Cadet Captain) and Cadet Ayush Shan (junior-most cadet). Captain (IN) Shibu Devasia, Principal of the school, presented the Chief Minister with a specially crafted memento reflecting the school’s values of knowledge, bravery, and discipline.
The inauguration of Triveni marks a major step in promoting inclusivity, providing modern residential facilities and leadership opportunities for girl cadets. The new hostel ensures that female students have an environment equal to their male counterparts to excel in academics, discipline, and service to the nation.
