Srinagar, September 20, 2025 : Chief Minister Omar Abdullah today called for complementing Jammu and Kashmir’s booming tourism sector with strong industrial growth, urging industry leaders to view J&K as a promising investment destination.
Speaking at the 4th CII Northern Regional Council 2025-26 meeting in Srinagar, the CM said tourism has dominated focus, but industrialisation needs equal attention to create jobs and long-term growth.
🔹 He assured reforms in the single-window clearance system, calling for it to be more effective.
🔹 Highlighted J&K’s advantages: low-cost land & electricity, GST reimbursements, skilled labour.
🔹 Emphasised opportunities in horticulture, dairy, and agriculture value addition.
🔹 Asserted J&K is peaceful, open for business, and ready for large-scale investments.
“Tourism is only half of our growth story. Industrialisation must become the other half to create jobs for our youth,” Abdullah said, urging CII members to give candid feedback to improve J&K’s business ecosystem.
The meeting witnessed participation from top industry leaders including CII Northern Region Chairperson Anjali Singh, Puneet Kaura, MA Alim, and Rachna Jindal.
