Jammu, February 18, 2026 : Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Wednesday congratulated the Jammu and Kashmir cricket team for their historic achievement in the Ranji Trophy, praising players, coaches, and support staff for their collective effort and dedication.
The J&K team created history by defeating Bengal cricket team by six wickets in the semifinal, marking a defining moment in the region’s domestic cricket journey.
Extending congratulations on behalf of the people of Jammu and Kashmir, the Chief Minister expressed confidence that the region’s cricketers would soon make their mark at the international level.
“I hope the day is not far when players from Jammu and Kashmir will play an important role in the national team,” he said.
CM Abdullah noted that the team’s steady progress over the past few years reflects sustained hard work, discipline, and strong guidance from the coaching and support staff, adding that such success is always a result of teamwork, not individual effort alone.
He said the landmark achievement has inspired young sportspersons across the Union Territory and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to strengthening sports infrastructure and nurturing emerging talent.
