Jammu, January 22, 2026 : Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Thursday chaired a cabinet meeting at the Civil Secretariat, Jammu, ahead of the upcoming Budget Session of the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly, scheduled to begin on February 2 with the address of Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha.
According to an official post by the Chief Minister’s Office on X, the meeting focused on key matters of public welfare and administrative importance. As per established procedure, all cabinet decisions will take effect after receiving the approval of the Lieutenant Governor.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Kumar Choudhary, cabinet ministers Sakina Itoo, Javed Ahmed Rana, Javid Ahmed Dar, Satish Sharma, and Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo, officials said.
While no formal communiqué was issued, sources indicated that discussions included the Lieutenant Governor’s address to the Assembly and proposed welfare measures to be incorporated in the annual budget.
Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, who also holds the Finance portfolio, is set to present the second budget of his government during the session, with expectations of initiatives aimed at economic growth and public welfare in Jammu and Kashmir.
