Srinagar, July 11, 2025: The Committee on Government Assurances of the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly held its introductory meeting today at the Assembly Complex in Srinagar under the chairmanship of Sajad Gani Lone.
The meeting was attended by members Ch. Mohammad Akram, Javaid Ahmad Mirchal, Hilal Akbar Lone, Iftikar Ahmad, Mian Mehar Ali, Mohan Lal, Sunil Bahardwaj, and Shagun Parihar. Assembly Secretary Manoj Kumar Pandita briefed the members on the agenda.
In his opening remarks, Chairman Lone emphasized that the Committee will scrutinize assurances and promises made by ministers on the floor of the House and examine their implementation status and timelines.
He underlined the Committee’s vital role in ensuring government accountability and transparency, stating that regular and focused meetings would be held to track pending assurances department-wise and deliver measurable results.
The Chairman urged members to extend full cooperation and contribute proactively to the Committee’s work to ensure that government commitments are fulfilled efficiently.
Members also offered suggestions and raised key public concerns for the Committee’s future deliberations.
