Poonch, July 30, 2025 : The Indian Youth Congress (IYC) on Wednesday distributed cheques towards the educational expenses of 30 children who lost their parents during Pakistani shelling along the Line of Control (LoC) in Poonch district.
The initiative, taken on behalf of Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi, aims to sponsor the education of children who were orphaned during Operation Sindoor in May.
The cheques were handed over at a function in Poonch by J&K Pradesh Congress Committee president Tariq Hamid Karra, IYC national president Uday Bhanu Chib, AICC secretary Shahnawaz Chaudhary, and J&K Congress working president Raman Bhalla, a party spokesperson said.
“I want to thank Rahul Gandhi for standing with these children when governments failed them,” said IYC president Chib. “These young lives were shattered by the cross-border shelling, but they are not alone—Gandhi has taken full responsibility for their education and well-being.”
Chib emphasized that Gandhi’s support was not about politics but about compassion and accountability. “Whether in power or not, Rahul Gandhi has consistently stood with the people in times of sorrow and need,” he added.
He urged people to accept this gesture as a small but sincere effort to bring hope to the affected families.
