SRINAGAR, Aug 12, 2025 : The Committee on Public Undertakings (COPU) of the Jammu & Kashmir Legislative Assembly today reviewed audit observations of the J&K Power Development Corporation Limited (JKPDCL) flagged by the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG), calling for strict accountability and timely corrective measures.
The meeting, chaired by Ali Mohammad Sagar, was attended by legislators Saifullah Mir, Ali Mohammad Dar, Mir Mohammad Fayaz, Ranbir Singh Pathania, Dr. Bashir Ahmad Shah (Veeri), Showkat Hussain Ganie, Saif-ud-Din Bhat, and Tanvir Sadiq, alongside senior officials from PDD, KPDCL, JPDCL, and other related agencies.
The Chairman expressed concern over prolonged delays in project execution, violations of DPR timelines, procedural lapses, and inflated billing in unmetered and far-flung areas. He stressed that PSUs must uphold financial discipline, operational efficiency, and transparency to safeguard public resources.
Directing the Principal Secretary PDD to submit an action-taken report within a month, Sagar warned that responsibility will be fixed on officers found guilty of negligence or irregularities, with strict action to follow. The committee also urged immediate rectification of consumer billing issues raised on public demand.
