Los Angeles, July 3, 2025: In a historic milestone, Deepika Padukone will be honoured with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, becoming the first Indian actor to receive this prestigious recognition.
The announcement was made by the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce, which administers the Walk of Fame.
“We are honoured to welcome you to the Walk of Fame Class of 2026,” the organisation shared via Instagram on Wednesday night.
Padukone will join a distinguished group of global stars, including Emily Blunt, Timothée Chalamet, Marion Cotillard, Stanley Tucci, Rami Malek, Rachel McAdams, and Demi Moore. Also among the honourees are filmmakers Chris Columbus and Tony Scott, as well as television icons like Greg Daniels, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Gordon Ramsay, and Bradley Whitford.
The Hollywood Walk of Fame, with over 2,700 brass stars embedded along Hollywood Boulevard and Vine Street, celebrates exceptional contributions across film, television, music, radio, theatre, and sports entertainment.
While Indian-origin American actor Sabu Dastagir and renowned conductor Zubin Mehta have previously been honoured, Padukone is the first mainstream Indian film actor to earn this recognition.
Since her debut in 2007 with Om Shanti Om, Padukone has risen to become one of India’s most acclaimed and influential actors, with notable performances in Piku, Padmaavat, Chhapaak, Bajirao Mastani, and Gehraiyaan. She made her Hollywood debut opposite Vin Diesel in xXx: Return of Xander Cage (2017).
In 2018, she was named one of TIME magazine’s 100 most influential people and later received the TIME100 Impact Award. In 2022, she served on the main competition jury of the Cannes Film Festival.
Padukone is currently working on several projects, including a high-profile film directed by Atlee, co-starring Allu Arjun.
