Jammu, October 15, 2025 : Expressing confidence after being announced as the BJP candidate for the Nagrota Assembly bypoll, Devyani Rana, daughter of late BJP stalwart Devender Singh Rana, said that Nagrota will always remain with the BJP and vowed to continue her father’s developmental legacy.
The BJP on Wednesday announced its candidates for the upcoming bypolls across several states, fielding Devyani Rana from Nagrota and Aga Syed Mohsin from Budgam in Jammu and Kashmir. The Nagrota seat fell vacant following the demise of Devender Singh Rana in October last year.
“I extend my heartfelt gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, BJP president J.P. Nadda, and senior party leaders for reposing faith in me,” Devyani told reporters, as jubilant party workers gathered at her residence, celebrating with dhols and slogans.
She said her candidature was not just an electoral opportunity but a mission to fulfill her father’s dream of transforming Nagrota into a model constituency.
“With the blessings of the people, we will make Nagrota a model constituency — a symbol of developed India,” she asserted.
An entrepreneur managing the family’s media and automobile businesses, Devyani holds a BA in Economics from the University of California. She said she was determined to work with dedication and discipline, calling the BJP “not just a party but a family.”
“We don’t believe in rhetoric; we believe in results. Together, we will win this seat by a massive margin,” she said.
Devyani praised the BJP’s emphasis on women and youth empowerment, saying she is committed to advancing Prime Minister Modi’s vision of ‘Viksit Bharat’ by contributing to a developed Nagrota and a developed Jammu and Kashmir.
Polling for the by-elections to eight Assembly seats, including Nagrota and Budgam, will be held on November 11, while counting will take place on November 14.
