Jammu, October 18, 2025: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate Devyani Rana on Saturday filed her nomination papers for the Nagrota Assembly by-election, slated for November 11, 2025, amid an impressive show of strength with thousands of supporters and senior party leaders accompanying her to the returning officer’s office in Jammu.
Rana, daughter of late Devender Singh Rana, the former Nagrota MLA whose demise necessitated the bypoll, said she was deeply honoured to contest from her father’s constituency and vowed to carry forward his legacy of honesty, hard work, and respect for all.
“Rana Sahab treated everyone with love and dignity. These are the values I wish to carry forward,” she said, expressing confidence in the people’s continued faith in the Rana family’s commitment to public service.
Having joined active politics earlier this year, Devyani Rana currently serves as Vice President of the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM).
Senior BJP leader and Leader of Opposition Sunil Sharma hailed her candidature, saying, “Devyani represents the spirit and vision of late Devender Singh Rana. The people of Nagrota will ensure her resounding victory.”
The by-election is expected to see a high-stakes contest, with the BJP banking on emotional connect, legacy, and strong grassroots mobilisation in Nagrota.
