Kathua, June 27,2025 : Director General of Police (DGP), Jammu and Kashmir, Nalin Prabhat, on Thursday reviewed security arrangements in Kathua district ahead of the 38-day-long Shri Amarnath Yatra, scheduled to begin on July 3 and conclude on August 9.
The first batch of pilgrims will be flagged off on July 2 by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha from the Bhagwati Nagar-based Yatri Niwas in Jammu.
Accompanied by senior officers including IGP Jammu Zone Bhimsen Tuti, DIG JKS Range Shiv Kumar Sharma, and DIG CRPF Avadhesh Pathak, the DGP visited the Reception Centre at Lakhanpur to assess the ground-level security and administrative preparations.
DGP Prabhat also held discussions with nodal officers from various security forces and civil departments, including Deputy Commissioner Kathua Rakesh Minhas, SSP Kathua Shobhit Saksena, IR-19 Commandant Atul Kumar, and Principal PTS Kathua Manjit Kaur, along with senior officials from the Army, CAPF, and J&K Police.
He briefed them on coordinated security deployment, inter-agency cooperation, and measures to ensure the smooth and secure passage of pilgrims during the Yatra.
