Kupwara, August 20, 2025 : Deputy Inspector General of Police, North Kashmir Range, Maqsood-ul-Zaman, on Wednesday visited Kupwara district to review the security scenario and assess counter-terrorism preparedness, officials said.

During the visit, the DIG inspected operational units and held detailed interactions with officers, including SSP Kupwara Ghulam Jeelani. At the SOG camp in Lolab, he chaired a meeting with personnel, addressing welfare and operational issues, some of which were resolved on the spot.

Kupwara ASP Syed Javaid (SP Operations) gave a comprehensive presentation on emerging threat perceptions, operational strategies, and area domination plans, following which emphasis was laid on intelligence sharing, coordination, and heightened operational alertness.

Later, Zaman visited Dardpora Lolab to take a ground-level review of deployment patterns in sensitive areas. He interacted with officers and jawans, appreciating their commitment to peace and stability.

Addressing the forces, the DIG underscored the importance of firm action against anti-peace elements coupled with community engagement, confidence-building, and continuous training to tackle evolving challenges.
