Udhampur, September 20, 2025 : Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Ramesh Kumar, on Saturday inspected the damaged stretch of National Highway-44 at Thard, taking stock of the ongoing restoration works and traffic regulation measures.
Accompanied by the IGP Traffic, Regional Officer NHAI, SSP Udhampur, SSP Traffic NHW, ADDC and senior officers from civil administration, police and NHAI, the Div Com reviewed progress on:

Road widening & WBM laying

Construction of an additional lane for smoother vehicular flow

Restoration of the second tube of NH-44
Currently, traffic is being managed on a single-lane basis. The Div Com personally monitored vehicular movement and directed NHAI to expedite work on the 300-metre affected stretch with priority.
He further instructed the Traffic Department to ensure strict regulation of vehicular movement and asked executing agencies to mobilize adequate men and machinery for timely completion.
“Restoration work must be doubled up to ease commuter convenience and maintain uninterrupted traffic flow,” the Div Com stressed.
