JAMMU, July 23, 2025 – Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Ramesh Kumar, today chaired a high-level meeting of the Multi-Disciplinary Committee to discuss a roadmap for a comprehensive and robust Traffic Management System for Jammu City.
The meeting was attended by key officials including the IGP Traffic J&K, Deputy Commissioner Jammu, Commissioner JMC, Vice Chairman JDA, Transport Commissioner, Chief Engineer PWD (R&B), and SSP Traffic Jammu City.
The session involved detailed deliberations on several critical areas:
-
Decongestion strategies
-
Road infrastructure enhancement
-
Regulation of street vendors and encroachment control
-
Identification of one-way traffic routes
-
Adjustment of traffic flow and designated no-parking zones
-
Accident prevention and overall traffic safety
To streamline implementation, the Divisional Commissioner directed the formation of a joint survey team comprising officials from the Traffic Department, Transport Department, District Administration, JMC, and JDA. This team will carry out ground assessments to pinpoint congestion hotspots, suggest potential no-parking zones, evaluate relocation of taxi/auto/bus stands, and recommend suitable one-way routes.
The observations from this survey will form the basis for further discussions in the next meeting, where specific actionable plans will be finalized.
The initiative aims to bring about long-term, structured solutions to the growing traffic challenges in Jammu city and ensure safer, smoother urban mobility for residents and commuters.
