Srinagar, September 24, 2025: A team of doctors from Bengaluru has embarked on a nationwide cycle rally from Kashmir to Kanyakumari with the aim of raising awareness about oral health and hygiene.
The rally was formally flagged off from the iconic Ghanta Ghar at Lal Chowk, Srinagar, on Monday.
Organisers said the initiative seeks to spread awareness about preventive dental care, early detection of oral diseases, and oral cancer among the general public. Covering over 3,600 km across multiple states, the rally is scheduled to conclude in Kanyakumari, Tamil Nadu, after a 45-day journey.
Focus on Rural Communities & Schools
The cycling team, comprising dentists and oral health professionals, will conduct oral health camps, free dental check-ups, and awareness sessions in various towns and cities en route. A special focus will be placed on schools and rural areas, where access to dental care remains limited.
Senior dentist Dr. Brinda Godhi from Bengaluru highlighted the need for prioritising oral health in the broader public health framework.
“Through this rally, we want to stress the importance of simple practices like brushing twice daily, avoiding tobacco, and getting regular dental check-ups. Cycling across the country symbolises endurance, commitment, and the need for sustained efforts in public health,” she said.
Nationwide Engagement
The organisers confirmed that the journey will be documented on social media to reach a wider audience and inspire collective action towards improving oral hygiene across India.
