BARAMULLA, November 6, 2025 : Police on Thursday arrested a drug peddler and recovered contraband substances from his possession in Baramulla district of Jammu and Kashmir.
Officials said a suspicious person, identified as Mukhtar Ahmad Rather, a resident of Nambalnar Babareshi, was intercepted at a checkpoint near Y Point Babareshi crossing.
Upon search, police recovered 21 grams of a heroin-like substance along with a digital weighing machine from his possession.
The accused was taken into custody, and a case under relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act has been registered. Police said that further investigation is underway to trace the source and network of the narcotics trade in the area.
