Udhampur, July 18, 2025: At least eight Amarnath pilgrims were injured early Friday morning when a speeding truck crashed into their car in Jammu and Kashmir’s Udhampur district, officials said.
The accident occurred at 6:13 AM in the Battal Ballian area, when the truck breached a CISF barricade, collided with the car carrying pilgrims en route to the Pahalgam base camp, and then jumped the road divider, crashing into a nearby house wall.
The car was part of the 16th batch of over 7,900 pilgrims that departed from Jammu for the Pahalgam and Baltal base camps earlier that morning.
CRPF personnel immediately responded, evacuating the injured to a nearby hospital. Officials confirmed that all victims are in stable condition, with three sustaining minor injuries.
Police have registered a case, seized the truck, and launched an investigation into the incident.
