Kulgam,  August 1, 2025 : An encounter broke out between militants and security forces in the Akhal forest area of Devsar, in south Kashmir’s Kulgam district on Friday, officials said.

A senior police officer confirmed that a joint team of the J&K Police, Army, and CRPF launched a cordon and search operation based on specific intelligence inputs regarding the presence of militants in the area.

“During the operation, contact was established with the hiding militants. An exchange of fire is currently underway,” the official said, adding that further details will be shared as the operation progresses.
