Srinagar, November 1, 2025 : Former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister and National Conference (NC) president Farooq Abdullah on Saturday called on tourists visiting the Valley to explore the newly opened Chrysanthemum Garden (Bagh-e-Gul-e-Dawood), describing it as a “beautiful autumn attraction” for Kashmir.
Abdullah made the remarks during his visit to the garden located within the Nehru Memorial Botanical Garden, which was inaugurated by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on October 25.
“This is a beautiful garden. None of the flowers here have been imported — all have been grown locally,” Abdullah told PTI Videos. “After the Tulip Garden, this will be the next big attraction that requires less maintenance.”
The senior leader noted that the Valley generally lacks floral attractions in the autumn season but said the Chrysanthemum Garden fills that void with vibrant colors and indigenous blooms.
“They (tourists) should come here and see how beautiful this garden is and how many colourful flowers have been grown here,” he said.
Abdullah praised the Department of Floriculture and the gardeners for their dedication in creating what he described as “a picturesque blend of colors and calm.”
The Chrysanthemum Garden, spread across several acres, features a wide variety of locally cultivated flowers and is expected to become a major addition to Kashmir’s eco-tourism circuit, offering visitors a unique seasonal experience beyond the famed Tulip Garden.
