Kupwara, April 9, 2026 : A fire broke out at the main bus stand in Kupwara, damaging seven buses, officials said on Thursday. Fortunately, no casualties were reported in the incident, which occurred on Wednesday night.

Firefighting teams rushed to the spot and launched immediate operations. After several hours of sustained efforts, the blaze was successfully brought under control.


Extent of Damage

According to officials:

  • 3 buses were severely damaged
  • 3 buses sustained partial damage
  • 1 bus was affected by heat and smoke

Cause Under Investigation

Authorities have initiated an investigation to determine the cause of the fire. Further details are awaited.


Conclusion

While the timely response of fire services prevented any loss of life, the incident resulted in significant damage to public transport vehicles.
