Srinagar, October 6, 2025 : Fresh snowfall in the higher reaches and steady rainfall across the plains brought a sharp dip in temperatures across the Kashmir Valley on Monday, marking an early onset of winter chill, officials said.
According to reports, snowfall was recorded at Sinthan Top in Anantnag, Affarwat in Gulmarg, Zojila Pass, Bangus Valley in Kupwara, Razdan Pass in Gurez, and several other high-altitude areas.
Meanwhile, light to moderate rainfall drenched most parts of the plains, including Srinagar city, where day temperatures dropped drastically.
Officials from the Meteorological Department said the maximum temperature in Srinagar settled around 11°C, nearly 10 degrees lower than Sunday’s 22.6°C — making it one of the coldest days of the season so far.
The MeT department has forecast continued wet weather over the next 24 hours, with the possibility of more snowfall in the upper reaches and intermittent rain in the plains.
