Jammu, March 28, 2026 : Minister for Health and Medical Education Sakeena Itoo on Saturday informed the Assembly that Government Medical College Udhampur and its associated hospital are functioning as per prescribed norms and delivering efficient healthcare services.
The statement came in response to a Calling Attention Motion moved by Pawan Kumar Gupta.
Healthcare Services Fully Functional
The Minister highlighted that key facilities are operational and catering to public needs:
- 🏥 Out-Patient Department (OPD)
- 🛏️ In-Patient Department (IPD)
- 🚑 Emergency Services
- 🔬 Diagnostic facilities
Inquiry Into January Incident
Referring to an incident on January 23, 2026 in the emergency section:
- 🧾 An Internal Inquiry Committee was constituted
- Findings revealed the patient had expired before arrival or immediately after being brought in
- Doctors and staff acted promptly as per medical protocols
To ensure transparency, the government appointed Ashutosh Gupta as Inquiry Officer to conduct a detailed probe, including administrative and security aspects.
