Srinagar, September 2, 2025 : The Meteorological outlook for Jammu and Kashmir indicates a widespread spell of rainfall over the next 60 hours, with the Jammu region likely to face the brunt of the wet spell.
Independent weather forecaster Faizan Arif said parts of Jammu are expected to receive heavy to very heavy rainfall, with short breaks in between. He cautioned that water levels in rivers and streams may rise sharply, with some areas potentially breaching flood alarm levels.
In Kashmir, rainfall is also expected though of relatively lower intensity. However, heavy showers are likely in pockets, especially over the Pir Panjal mountains and higher reaches of Kulgam, Shopian, and Anantnag. The Jhelum river is also expected to witness a significant rise in water levels.
The forecast further warns of thunderstorms with gusty winds, chances of flash floods and cloudbursts, and increased risk of landslides and falling stones along vulnerable mountain passes.
Authorities have urged residents and travelers to remain vigilant and take precautions during the spell of intense rainfall.
