Srinagar, August 18, 2025 : Moderate to heavy rains lashed large parts of Kashmir on Monday, prompting authorities to set up emergency control rooms in vulnerable districts, officials said.
Srinagar, Kupwara, Baramulla, Anantnag, and Pulwama witnessed downpours since morning. In Kupwara’s Warnov forest area of Lolab, torrential rain accompanied by thunder forced residents to move to safer locations amid fears of a cloudburst.
The Meteorological Centre in Srinagar has forecast moderate to heavy rainfall across the valley. In response, police in Pulwama and Anantnag established emergency helplines and issued advisories urging residents to stay away from rivers, streams, and other water bodies until conditions improve.
“People must exercise utmost caution during the weather advisory period from August 17 to 19,” Pulwama police said in a statement.
