Udhampur, September 6, 2025 : In a swift and coordinated humanitarian mission, the District Administration Udhampur in collaboration with the Indian Air Force (IAF) on Saturday carried out an emergency air evacuation of two critically ill patients from the rain and landslide-hit region of Tehsil Latti-Marothi.
The patients, Shiv Lal of Sira and Diwan Chand of Latti, were in urgent need of medical intervention. With road connectivity to Udhampur cut off due to incessant rainfall and multiple landslides, airlifting remained the only feasible option for timely medical assistance.
Acting promptly on information received from the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Udhampur, District Magistrate Saloni Rai coordinated with the Indian Air Force under the Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR) framework. Within hours, an air rescue team was mobilised to Latti-Marothi.
Following the evacuation, one patient was shifted to the Military Hospital (MH) Udhampur, while the other was admitted to the Government Medical College (GMC) Udhampur for specialized treatment.
The District Administration assured that all possible support, including emergency medical aid, rations, and relief supplies, will continue to be extended to people stranded in remote areas. Special focus remains on vulnerable villages where roads remain blocked due to landslides triggered by the ongoing monsoon spell.
