Jammu, August 21, 2025 : Shahid Iqbal Choudhary, IAS, Commissioner Secretary of the Science and Technology Department, J&K Government, has been selected as a 2025 Eisenhower Global Fellow, joining an international cohort of leaders working on sustainability, resilience, and innovation.
Announcing the news on X, Choudhary described the fellowship as a “long-cherished aspiration.” He wrote: “Honoured to stand alongside incredible changemakers from around the world — and looking forward to building bridges of knowledge, partnerships, and action that link local resilience with global sustainability.”
Choudhary said the recognition reinforces his commitment to climate resilience and strengthening rural livelihoods, particularly in the Himalayan region. He highlighted that the struggles and innovations of pastoralists and farmers remind him that sustainability is not only a policy goal but also a “lived practice of resilience.”
The Eisenhower Fellowships program brings together emerging leaders worldwide to promote collaboration and find solutions to pressing global challenges.
