Srinagar, Sep 11, 2025 : Jammu & Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah expressed their gratitude to the Railway Ministry for launching a dedicated apple parcel train service from Budgam (Kashmir Valley) to New Delhi, set to begin on September 13, 2025.
This initiative aims to ease logistical challenges faced by apple growers, especially after repeated closures of the Srinagar-Jammu Highway due to heavy rains and landslides. The service will ensure faster, safer delivery of apples to national markets, providing much-needed relief to the valley’s fruit industry.
Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw announced that the daily time-tabled service will connect Budgam to Adarsh Nagar Station in Delhi. The first loading of two parcel vans carrying apples began today.
LG Sinha thanked PM Modi and Minister Vaishnaw, calling the move “a huge relief to apple growers,” while CM Omar Abdullah expressed heartfelt appreciation for the support.
