Jammu, July 2, 2025: A delegation from the Jammu Chamber of Commerce and Industry (JCCI) met Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Wednesday and urged the administration to increase the number of registration counters for Amarnath Yatra pilgrims, citing rising footfall and long queues.
The six-member delegation, led by JCCI President Arun Gupta, discussed several key issues related to the smooth conduct of the Yatra and the welfare of the business community, according to an official spokesperson.
While appreciating the administration’s efforts to ensure a peaceful pilgrimage, the JCCI emphasized the need for enhanced security arrangements, especially in the wake of the Pahalgam terror attack and Operation Sindoor.
The delegation also requested the LG to take up the following with the Union Government:
-
Extension of the ₹28,400 crore Industrial Package for eligible units.
-
Introduction of a new daily train service between Jammu and Haridwar, noting that the only existing regular train on this route is over two decades old and no longer meets growing demand.
The Lieutenant Governor gave a patient hearing and assured the delegation that the issues raised would be taken up with relevant ministries and addressed at the earliest, the JCCI said in a statement.
