Jammu, July 9,2025: With the Monsoon Session of Parliament set to begin on July 21, the Jammu and Kashmir Congress has announced plans to intensify its campaign for the restoration of statehood to the Union Territory.
During a meeting of district coordinators in Jammu, J&K Congress president Tariq Hameed Karra said the people of the region are being denied their constitutional rights without justification.
“The double control system is hurting the people of J&K. It’s time the Centre honours its promises made in Parliament and before the Supreme Court,” Karra said.
He urged party workers to mobilize the public under the ongoing ‘Hamari Riyasat, Hamara Haq’ campaign to pressure the government into introducing a bill for statehood restoration in the upcoming Parliament session.
Karra also criticized the Election Commission’s Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls in Bihar, calling it an attempt by the BJP to manipulate elections. He claimed the exercise was “anti-constitutional” and said the BJP was using new strategies to rig upcoming polls, as seen previously in Maharashtra.
“The Congress will stand by the people in safeguarding their rights, status, and dignity,” Karra asserted.
