Jammu, November 3, 2025 : In a stern administrative action, the Jammu and Kashmir Government on Monday ordered the withholding of salaries of 18 Block Development Officers (BDOs) over dismal performance in completing the e-KYC verification of MGNREGA workers.
During a performance review meeting, the Administrative Secretary observed that 18 blocks had recorded figures well below the UT average of 49.68%, despite the October 31, 2025 deadline. The lapse was termed as a serious dereliction of duty by the concerned officers.
The affected BDOs belong to the blocks of Kupwara, Trahgam, Rajwara, Herri Qadriabad, Panthal, Kalaroose, Harwan, Sogam, Mawar Qalamabad, Kralpora, Ramhal, Magam, Nadihal, Khonmoh, Reddi Chowkibal, Qaziabad, Srinagar, and Thakrakote.
According to the official order,
“These BDOs shall not draw their salaries for the month of October 2025, if not already drawn, and shall continue to be ineligible for salary for November and subsequent months until e-KYC targets are fully achieved.”
The move underscores the administration’s push for accountability and timely implementation of welfare schemes under Mahatma Gandhi NREGA.
