Jammu, March 9, 2026 : The High Court of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh has issued fresh directions to registry officials to ensure proper numbering of main case files, interlocutory applications (IAs), caveats and other related documents on judicial files to avoid inconvenience during court proceedings.
According to a circular issued by the Registrar General M K Sharma, it has been observed that in several cases listed before the court, main case numbers, IA numbers and caveat numbers were not being filled in the designated spaces on files after registration, creating difficulties during hearings.
The circular directs registry officials of both wings of the High Court to ensure that immediately after registration of cases, all necessary particulars are properly recorded. These include the case number, IA number, caveat number and the corresponding year, which must be clearly entered in the designated columns wherever they are found blank.
The order states that the step has been taken to streamline court procedures and ensure smooth functioning during hearings, preventing inconvenience to the courts while dealing with listed matters.
Officials have been asked to strictly comply with the instructions so that judicial records remain properly maintained and accessible during court proceedings.
